Bill Walter, Executive Director

Bill Walter came to Beth El from York, having worked for the York JCC for 18 years as the head of Program Operations. Bill also spent close to 4 years doing social work for troubled youths.

Bill is a bit of a sports nut so you will often find him during his free time coaching his children or playing golf. I also serve as Vice President of Temple Beth Israel in York PA and I hope my leadership and programming skills will benefit Beth El.

Bill is married to Erica, a Middletown native, and together they have two boys Benjamin 14 and Samuel 12.

Gabrielle FrEnkel, USY AdVisor

My name is Gabrielle Frenkel, but everyone calls me Gabby!  I am a junior at Dickinson College studying Neuroscience on a Pre-med track.  Originally I am from Queens, NY, but specifically Forest Hills.  I have been working with Jewish Youth (as well as secular youth) programs much of my life.  Throughout high school I was a member of my temple’s youth group board, first as Communications and Programming Vice Presidents, and then as President for 2 years.  I also worked for 5 years as the assistant teacher to the Hebrew School kindergarten/pre-k, and helped in leading the Junior Youth group programming.  In the time since then I have worked a lot as a secular youth program leader, helping to run student mentoring and guidance programs with Dickinson College.

I now work at Chisuk Emuna’s Hebrew School with the 6th grade, and am really looking forward to getting back to my work with Jewish teen youths! I am excited to see how we can take our USY program to the next, and even more fun, level.  My hope is to increase the level of self-governance in USY, allowing all our students to have their voices heard, and ensuring that they get to take a large part of the program planning in their own hands…with my guidance, of course!  I really look forward to getting to know what YOU want to see as part of USY!
